Acting Style Don’ts: How to keep your look versatile

Categories:  Acting Tips, Casting Directors

There’s nothing wrong with showing off your personal style. But make sure that your style doesn’t interfere with your acting career!

Here are a few extreme style choices to avoid:

Too many tattoos. Producers will only cover up the tattoos of someone like Angelina Jolie, not the actors with one scene. Covering up tattoos is time-consuming, expensive, and one more thing a production has to worry about.

Extra piercings. This especially applies to piercing that can’t be easily removed. So if you were thinking about getting your tongue pierced, don’t.

Crazy hairstyles. Guys, don’t get a mohawk. Ladies, electric blue is not a flattering color. The most versatile length for women’s hair is around shoulder-length.

Men’s facial hair. A trimmed goatee or beard is fine, but growing it long will definitely narrow down your choices.

Renee, I left a comment earlier; it did not post. This article is very helpful. We all should be careful about making any changes that can’t be un-done for a role. Thank you for a great article. ~ Janet
