Word of the Day: French hours
Categories: Daily Advice
FRENCH HOURS – A term used in the film industry to indicated a shoot day when no lunch hour is designated on-set. The lack of a lunch break means that the cast and crew have to steal moments to eat, but it also provides for a continuous and more efficient production pace, especially when a film has be to shot quickly. Joel Schumacher used French hours in filming Phone Booth, completed in 10 days!

I too did not know that was what it was called. Thanks.
It means I’m going to be very hungry but will finish earlier than usual.
I always thought it was hard to work on an empty stomach!
That was completed fast.Guess you need lots of snacking in between takes..
I never would have guessed that is what that word meant. I thought it would have been some strange work schedule.
