How to go from “Who?” to Host!

Between reality TV, web series, and celebrity gossip shows, you can be a hot host of almost anything these days!
Go for any audition, no matter how big or small the gigs. Study up and know your stuff, especially when it’s a speciality show that focuses on fashion, cooking, or another niche. Try to come off as the show’s biggest fan and prove that you’re the most knowledgeable and the most charismatic too!
If if you’re already involved in the entertainment industry, you can always use your current job to land an awesome hosting gig. Think Mario Lopez, who went from washed up 90s star to Dancing with the Stars phenomenon to full-time host of Extra. TRL VJ Damien Fahey leveraged his MTV experience to land the enviable opportunity to fill in for Regis Philbin whenever he’s unavailable to host Live with Regis and Kelly.
The bottom line is that you can get your foot in the door in many ways. Don’t be discouraged: just go for it!
