How to get involved in the industry from the ground up!

One of the things I love most about the entertainment industry is the feeling of community it brings. Whether you are an actor, camera operator, casting director, editor, or screenwriter, we are all part of the same community.
No one can function with one part missing, so teamwork is important, as well as embracing each piece of the puzzle. That means staying informed about what is happening in the entertainment industry as a whole. So how do you do that?
1. It’s awards season, so pay attention! The nominees for the SAG awards were just announced. Go see the nominated movies to get a taste of this year’s best and know what the industry is doing creatively.
2. Variety is the news source of the entertainment world, so keep up with it on a regular basis. It’s available online, so just head over after you’ve applied to the latest casting calls on InstantCast.
3. Use networking sites like InstantCast to find out what’s happening on all levels of the entertainment industry.
4. If you live in Los Angeles or New York City, check out The Paley Center for Media and learn about the history of television and radio. If you know where everything started, you’ll be able to see where this industry is headed in the future!

You need to put in a few hours a day researching, etc. if you are serious about getting jobs. It’s very rare that you are going to be discovered on yhour front stoop.
I feel that after you meet with the photographer that along with bringing “your” look, that you need to bring you SPIRIT!…That is what helps take a GREAT photo. If you don’t tune into your feelings and direction from your photographer then the real you won’t shine through. Just be yourself and your light will shine.
