In the movie business, ticket-buyers now account for just a small fraction of the money earned by each film–Hollywood studios now get less than 15% of their proceeds from box office receipts! Other related “windows” include the pay-per-view window and the broadcast window.

    I was surprised that that was all the Hollywood studios receieved.

    One would think that ticket-buyers would play a big part and make a fortune for the movie business. However, I can see where it lacks that advantage nowadays because it costs so much to go to the movies. People prefer to watch everything on DVD now.
