Film Genre of the Day: Chick flick

Categories:  Daily Advice

CHICK FLICK - A film designed to appeal to a female target audience. The term was first used in the 1980s when movies like Beaches gained popularity. While chick flicks always focus on themes that are relationship-based, they are not necessarily romantic and may not involve men. Many chick flicks also follow the “Cinderella” pattern – think The Princess Diaries, Pretty Woman, or The Devil Wears Prada!

The term explains itself (for women) but I would have never thought it would be relationship-based.
