COSTUME DRAMA - A period piece which uses elaborate costumes, sets and properties to capture the ambiance of a particular era. This term is usually used in the context of film and television, and generally refers to historical dramas, romances, or adventure films. Keira Knightley has recently starred in several costume dramas including The Edge of Love, Atonement, and The Duchess.
