Film Genre of the Day: Slasher film

Categories:  Daily Advice

SLAPSTICK – A sub-genre of the horror film typically involving a psychopathic killer stalking and killing a sequence of victims in a graphically violent manner. Slasher films have their own set of characteristics which set them apart from other horror movies. The victims are teenagers or young adults who are far away from help and the killer is usually “pure evil” and shows no remorse. Iconic slasher films include Texas Chainsaw Massacre and My Bloody Valentine.

I’m not sure if this could be considered a Slasher Film but Wrong Turn comes to mind because they didn’t know how to get back to civilization and the killers were evil canables who had absolutely no remorse. Scary movie.

“Slasher Film” is the perfect term for the definition that was given. These are usually films that I cannot stand to watch.
