ANTM Open Call Redo: NYC’s model wannabes get serious!

Categories:  Casting Calls, Modeling Tips

Remember last month when thousands of Top Model hopefuls rioted in the streets? Thankfully, the second New York City open call went much more smoothly this past Saturday.

Of course, reality TV is just as harsh – maybe even harsher – as the real world of modeling. The New York Times reported that around 1200 model wannabes were shuffled in and out of the auditions quickly, limiting the time each contestant had to present herself. (And no, Tyra Banks didn’t make an appearance.)

Yes, modeling can be a cutthroat competition… But when it comes down to brass tacks, you’ve got to be able to bring it and make an impression the second you walk in the room! If you feel yourself getting discouraged, take a cue from one of women who auditioned for ANTM on Saturday:

“It doesn’t discourage me,” said Tela Williams, who is 18 and had gotten up at 3:45 a.m. to journey to Midtown from North Brunswick, N.J., after she emerged, rejected, from the Pennsylvania Hotel. “At the end of the day you’re beautiful to someone.”

I love Tela’s attitude! Modeling agencies often have a certain look in mind already. And sometimes, they don’t know who they’re looking for until she walks in the door.

The best way to reach your modeling dreams? Try, try, and try again! Start with these modeling calls today:

That’s great, I don’t think Tyra Banks will be able to deal with another riot.

This is great! I am glad to see at least one person who understands their self worth isnt based on auditions. People fought because they were insecure and didnt know their self worth. If they did they would know noone can take that away, and when its your time its your time! Best of luck to you all!

Te’La is my youngest and her response is not surprising. There is no limit to what she will achieve. When one door closes another will be opened. So she’s off to school to master her skills. Look for her as a future Tony and Oscar winner. I love you TeTe!
