Get Cast This Fall with Casting Director Renee’s Top 3 Auditions Tips!
Categories: Acting Tips, Casting Directors
Are you determined to get cast this fall? There’s nothing more important than your next audition. I’ve given some audition advice before, but it never hurts to add a few more key points. If you can master an audition, you have a bright acting future ahead of you.
So what else do you need to remember besides bringing your resume, showing up early, and having the material memorized? Here are my top 3 audition tips:
1. Be fully prepared. Don’t just know all the words, really know the scene. Find out the character’s back story. Know where the scene falls in the script and your relationships with the other characters in the scene. Have the dialogue so well memorized that you don’t even have to think about the words as they come out. Being natural is key. Bring a bottle of water, change for the meter if needed, and something to keep you occupied as you wait.
2. Keep your focus. Now is not the time to make friends with the girl next to you. Or flirt with the boy in front of you. Think about the character and the scene you are about to perform. Turn your phone off.
3. Don’t forget to say thank you! Make sure you thank the casting director or producer you read for. A follow up note is always a good touch. Keep track of what auditions you go on and who they are with. That type of information might be helpful in the future. And that’s what you should now focus on. As soon as you leave the audition, it’s on to the next thing until you hear back.

These are very helpful hints. I always try to thank everyone before I leave for the opportunity to audition for them. Always an honor.
