And I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye. Twenty-five years feels right in my bones, and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number, the exact right time.”

We understand Oprah…it’s time for YOU to sit back, relax, and enjoy the fruits of your labor…but that’s not to say we won’t miss you! Oprah will concentrate on her OWN network, a cable channel that represents her name & will premiere in January 2011.

Kellan Lutz was a struggling actor until he landed his Twilight role: Before he had only appeared on an eight-episode arc in Lisa Kudrow’s short-lived 2005 HBO sitcom The Comeback.  Ashely Greene was an apiring model from Jacksonville, Forida, who was told she wouldn’t get anywhere because of her short 5′4” stature. Cam Gigandet got his Hollywood break playing a bad boy on the popular teen drama The O.C.

While the cast of Precious features big-time stars Mo’Nique and Mariah Carey, the shining star is new actress Gabby Sidibe.  CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric reports twenty-six year-old Gabourey Sidibe is not your typical girl to get cast in a feature film. But then again, not many plus-sized, African-American girls are. Sidibe says “It’s empowering. It’s like as much confidence as I have, there’s still that little fat girl that lives inside of me,” said Sidibe. “Because everyone told me that I wouldn’t make anything of myself until I lost 100 pounds.”

Gabby cut class to go to her audition that brought the film’s nationwide, five-month casting call to a complete stop. “I got the call for the callback, which was the next day,” Sidibe said. And it was really Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – movie star. Which is my new tag line, personally.”

Director Lee Daniels says it was her “not-so-quiet confidence” that made him realize he had been looking for potential Preciouses in all the wrong places. He interviewed 400 girls: “I had gone to McDonald’s. I looked everywhere for that girl. And I realized once I spoke to Gabby that if I had hired any of those girls – I would have been exploiting those girls because they were precious.”

Gabby’s discovery story inspires us and makes us remember that you can’t judge a book by its cover and anyone can become a star. You just need confidence. Plus, you need to get yourself out there (even if it means …cutting class on occassion?!)

Gabby says “I  just hope that people can get past what I look like, and what other — you know, what other people look like. And see the heart and the soul of the person.”

GREAT: The New York Post’s Linda Stasi gives The Vampire Diaries 4 stars, citing the bloody action scenes. “These killers are more fun than a cemetery full of psycho zombie killers on Halloween.”

GOOD: Entertainment Weekly critic Ken Tucker rates the show a solid B+, and especially likes the  “snappy dialogue and quirky pop cult references.”

OKAY: Glenn Garvin at the Miami Herald can’t shake off the stunning similarity to a certain vampire blockbuster, but admits, “No, it’s not Twilight — but it’s not bad, either.”

YUCK: TV Guide’s Matt Roush would rather be buried alive than sit through another episode: “It’s not that The Vampire Diaries is a truly terrible show. It’s just so insipid and uninspired.”

The guest of honor was none other than Jessie…the blonde, thick-skinned, outspoken teen who could (and will?) at any moment take over Manhattan with the sweep of her well-manicured, bejeweled hand. I was a bit uneasy to have the 18 year-old reality TV starlet lurk behind me while I watched her unravel on screen.

So what was she like in-person? The same as on the show! It is reality TV, after all…but really she was 100% passionate about her charity, Operation Smile, open about her love for fashion & bling, and she had an overwhelming air of confidence about her that definitely translates to her on-screen character.

What’s next for J? She’s off to FIT in the fall to study fashion. When I asked Jessie if Bravo was doing another season she threw her hands in the air and said “I don’t know…” with a sneaky lift of her perfectly-groomed eyebrows …guess we’ll just have to sit back & wait to find out!

Although all series are usually showcased, it’s really a time for new series to get the word out.

It’s also a good time to find out the inner scoop on what shows you should be auditioning for and what ones you’ll be setting your DVR. I already have a few picked out myself.

I’m excited to see what’s up with The Good Wife on CBS. It stars Julianna Margulies as an attorney who goes back to work after her politician husband is caught red handed.

The buzz is good so far and her husband is played by Chris Noth, who I of course remember from two years of working on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Whether on CI or Sex in the City, Noth has brought interesting characters to life. I can’t wait to see what he does with this one and how much his character is going to figure into the series going forward. If the chance comes up, think about auditioning for this one.

So here’s my suggestion to everyone, start looking up information on this season’s press tour and soak up all you can about this fall’s upcoming shows. You might find a new series that fits you perfectly. Find out the production company and who does the casting.

It’s not a lot of detective work to find out the information you need. This is your opportunity to get your foot in the door, especially while new shows are figuring out their identity.
