The movie is about the sudden unemployment of a NYC couple who has to look for alternative living options; they decide to explore living on a rural commune where free love rules. The cast is eclectic and includes Alan Alda, Justin Theroux, Malin Akerman, and Lauren Ambrose. All the actors are terrific!
 
The film also reunited the amazing cult classic sketch TV show The State. Their improv scenes were some of the funniest in the movie. Both State cast members Dan Wain and Ken Marino wrote the film. All of these guys are friends and have worked together for years so they’re super comfortable together on camera: I think that’s what brought upon their spot on performance. I give this film two thumbs up! Go see it you won’t be sorry!

Smash is the first mainstream Broadway themed drama on TV. Megan has been wishing and hoping for this show to come about so that she could transition from stage to TV.

Megan took a chance by doing something different. Instead of performing the same show every night on Broadway, she has to memorize a new script every day and be on set. She says she loves it…she’s doing something she’s never done before…everyday!

They need to be really believable as actors and not just as a celebrity face to connect with the products they represent. They cannot fake it. Just look at Elton John and Melanie Amaro in the Pepsi commercial last night, or Jerry Seinfeld in the Acura commercial: they both did a great job acting and were focusing on convincing their audiences to connect with the brand.

If you want to be a commercial actor and work for a brand make sure people believe what you are modeling, acting, and saying about the product.  Learn all you can about it and be sure to do research on it before you even go on the audition so you can be convincing!

Director Steven Soderbergh discovered Gina, an MMA fighter, while watching her fight in the ring on TV.  After seeing Gina on the  reality TV show American Gladiator, Steve wrote a role for her. She is a Muay Thai athlete and had never acted before.

She grew up in Las Vegas and became quite successful as a female MMA fighter. She is ranked 3 in the world for the 145 lbs weight class. Her talent lead to “Ring Girls” the documentary about the fighters, a spot on the newest version  of  American Gladiators, and a reality gig on Oxygen’s “Fight Girls.”

Her unusual discovery story is just more proof that you don’t have to be a conventional “actor” these days – huge directors like Soderbergh are looking for talent everywhere! Take a look at her new work when Haywire opens. Let your raw talents and skills shine—you never know who’s watching!
