Luis Rodriguez from Bell Gardens, CA asks: “Can I get an example of an answer to ‘What is your star material’”? June says “Remember why you started acting and let your passion reveal itself. Impress Casting Directors with your special skills (dance moves, language skills, anything that makes you unique) and be prepared to demonstrate them if asked. Dear June, I recently had my first audition. I thought I nailed it, but they asked me to do it again a totally different way than I had prepared. I left feeling disappointed. I don’t think they liked me, what do you think? New at this in Florida.
Dear New at this in Florida, When a casting director asks you to do something “a different way,” it’s a good sign.  This means that they’re interested in you and they’re giving you more time so they can evaluate you.   There usually is no right or wrong way to play the part, and they like variety. To prepare for next time, be ready to change it up!  Break a leg, June
