Producers have announced that the lovely Jamie-Lynn Sigler will join the cast of Ugly Betty for its fourth season! She’ll play Daniel’s (Eric Mabius) assistant, taking over Betty’s (America Ferrera) old job.

Rumor has it that Jamie-Lynn’s character will be spiritual and wonked out–sounds like as much fun for her as it will be for us! You’ll recognize Jamie-Lynn as Meadow, Tony’s daughter on The Sopranos.

More recently, she’s appeared on Saturday Night Live and as herself on Entourage–as Jerry Ferrara’s on- and off-screen girlfriend! If you think you have what it takes to act on this ABC hit, apply to our Ugly Betty casting call right now!

Having trouble navigating the politics of Hollywood? You’ve got to take charge and be your own boss. Here’s how to get your foot in the right door!

1. Stay up-to-date. Get a subscription to Variety and Entertainment Weekly to follow what’s going on in the entertainment world. And check the InstantCast blog for daily tips from me and Casting Director Renee.

2. Rent DVDs of shows like Entourage or Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and movies like Get Shorty. Even though they’re fictional, these projects portray true-to-life scenarios that really occur in Hollywood!

3. Look into informational interviews with potential producers. Even if they’re not hiring today, you’ll gain contacts with that person and their company for their next projects.

4. Talk to the film crew. Knowing the terminology and what people behind the scenes actually do will get you ahead faster than your competition!
