One of the best perks of being in the casting world? Getting to see the hottest movies before they hit theaters!

I recently saw a sneak preview of the Zac Efron vehicle 17 Again, and it was one of the best teenage dramedies I’ve seen in years. Zac was already a huge star among the tween set, but now he’s going to be even bigger!

Although Matthew Perry kicks off the movie, Zac Efron takes over the film quickly and completely dominates it. He has amazing timing and charisma, and even outshined some of the well-known comics!

TEEN MOVIE – A movie targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers. Some of these include coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, teen angst and alienation. Common themes include high school, sexuality, and crude humor. They rose to popularity in the 90s, and High School Musical is one of the most popular teen flicks today. This genre was also spoofed in 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie!

It took High School Musical star Zac Efron several years to decide he wanted to be an actor.

1. Simply ask your child if acting is something he or she is interested in doing. Two years ago I cast my cousin’s daughter in a Disney film as an extra. She said yes, but she was eight years old at the time and didn’t know what she was getting into! But when the next opportunity came up, she said yes again! She now knew what to expect, and it would always be her decision to make.
