When I tell people that I am a Casting Director, the common reaction is “you should put me on TV!” And if it isn’t that, people will say “my child belongs on TV” or “my friend, brother, sister, cousin,” etc. As all of you know who are pursuing this career, it is so much easier said than done. Not to mention, it is much harder than it looks. I wish I could cast everyone who comes in bright eyed to an audition and thinks they are perfect for a particular role. After experiencing so many great people coming into auditions, I can immediately distinct the hard workers from the day dreamers. Starting smaller and finding opportunities in your hometown as a first step.
There are always actors showing up to auditions who experience freezing on-camera due to nerves or lack of preparation. Sometimes people come in without a resume to back up their on-camera experience. I know there are a lot of people out there that are starting from scratch before they come into an audition.
